Our story

My name is Wendy and in 2020, my husband Steve and I moved to the small, rural town of Sherborn, Massachusetts.

I knew next to nothing about flowers or gardening when we moved here but having ties to the beautiful Berkshires, Steve and I both dreamed about having our own piece of land and possibly a farm some day. We debated whether we should have animals on the property…horses? sheep? goats? chickens? miniature Highland Cows? (Steve still won’t let that one go!) Ultimately, as we were settling into our new home, I fell in love with the dozen peony plants that the previous owner had planted 40 years ago and decided (a bit impulsively) that I should start a peony farm!

So… I have spent the past few years learning all I can about growing peonies…from creating and prepping the field, to purchasing the roots and planting 1250 plants in the ground before winter hit. It’s been equal parts exciting, stressful, educational and backbreaking! Follow along with me as I attempt to grow my plants and business. I’ve realized that I learn the most from my mistakes (of which there are many) but hopefully it will all lead to many years of beauty as Mother Nature does her thing despite all of my mistakes!
